Just Another Pandora's Box

Here is a nice little Jamma box I recently picked up. It is called Just Another Pandora's Box. There are over 300 games loaded on board. There are several things I like about this box:

1. Games can be played in a LCD or CRT arcade cabinet, supports 31k and 15k.
2. None of the games I played had any sound or game play issues.
3. Games load up quickly and options can be set for each game on the cart.
4. The box is powered via the standard jamma connector, no external power source needed.
5. The box has a good selection of fighters, shooters, and puzzle games.

The Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Pre-Launch Party in LA

So I had the chance to attend the The Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Pre-Launch Party in LA this weekend. Great work to all those who put the event together and thanks to Sega (http://www.sega.com/) for supporting the VF community.  I had the chance to play Chibita on the main stage in two matches. Chibita used Lion and I used Jean. Chibita won both matches with a score of 3 rounds to one (same score both games). It was great to play someone who has such a high Virtua Fighter IQ and who can adapt to anything that is thrown his way.

I have some match footage from some great players, video of the event itself and a few pics from the event. Oh yeah I almost forgot, I have some (3) short videos for the Special Sparring Mode.

It was great meeting some members from VFDC (http://virtuafighter.com/) and I hope to meet other members in the future. See everyone soon on the PS3 and Xbox versions of the game.

Gunlord

Gunlord, a NEW Neo Geo game was released and I received my copy on Saturday. The gameplay is very nice. The levels are very large and quite detailed. There is alot to explore in the game and I have only begun to find all the hidden areas in each level. Great Work NG:DEV.TEAM

Below are some of the contents that came with the game and gameplay videos from day 1:

SOUTHTOWN ARCADE

I had a chance to visit Southtown Arcade while in San Fran. The arcade is located downtown and is fairly easy to find. There are a nice selection of aracde games to play and the price of the games was quite nice as well. Some games were $.25, others were $.50 per game, which compared to arcades in Japan where every game was 1 yen ($1.00) gives you alot of play time for your money. If you every have the chance to visit the arcade, be sure to do so. Below are some pics and video shot from the arcade.

Arcade Stick Size Comparison - Hori VLX, Street Fighter X Tekken V.S., Street Fighter IV TE

One of my friends asked me to compare the difference in size with the Hori VLX, Street Fighter X Tekken VS, Street Fighter IV TE. I took these pics for him, but rather than delete I am just adding them to the blog. Also of note, I modded my Street Fighter X Tekken V.S. stick from the stock pic for one with Virtua Fighter 5 R characters.

For me it comes down to this:

Hori VLX                                    - Best Arcade feel, not good for travel.
Street Fighter X Tekken V.S.       - Great Arcade feel, good for travel.
Street Fighter IV TE                    - Good Arcade feel, Great for travel.
